A town of 22,000 inhabitants, Millau is divided by the R. Tarn. It is famous for the manufacture of gloves and leather clothing and, above all, for its famous viaduct (the highest in Europe) which is an architectural masterpiece.
Not far from the town is the Larzac Plain, a huge expanse of moorland which is mysterious and wild at the same time.
To the East of Millau you can discover the fabulous Tarn Gorges and the winding river of clear green water which flows at the bottom of the rocky gorges..
Amongst the most interesting nearby places to visit are the Roquefort Caves (guided visit) and the village of La Couvertoirade which is a Knights Templar village in the heart of the Larzac and which today is one of the most beautiful villages of France.
