You must discover the cloisters and the Augustin Chapel, which today house cultural and administrative facilities. The modest chapel invites passers-by to enter. Inside are two reliquaries of gilded wood, a pièta, processional maces and, above all, a very beautiful XVI Century Triptych, a flamboyant masterpiece of Gothic wood sculpture. On crossing the bridge you will find the statue of the Marmots. Stop a moment to learn the story of why the inhabitants of St Geniez are called 'Marmots'.
Climb up to the Talabot Monument to see the view over the whole of St Geniez as far as St Eulalie d'Olt. |
